Westford Academy’s Ryan Pocock has been named the Dual County League Large Division MVP in baseball for 2014, joining fellow senior Cam McDonald on the list of the DCL’s All-Stars.
Pocock learned about the news on Twitter, stating that it was a shock at first, but ultimately it wasn’t too big of a deal.
“I kind of laughed when I heard the news, but I was happy,” said Pocock. “I’ve done pretty well this year, but it’s not that important; nobody likes the guys who talk about themselves all the time. I just try to go out there and hit the ball hard whenever I can.”
Also a pitcher for the Ghosts, Pocock will be attending Brandeis University, where he says he has been offered a shot at the roster at both positions.
Pocock and the Ghosts will travel to Waltham for a Division 1 North Quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, May 31 at 11 a.m. If they can win there, they’ll face either Andover or Peabody on the road in the Division 1 North semifinals.
