The Boston Globe is reporting that if a conclusion cannot be reached in the ongoing Market Basket standoff, 61 of the chain’s 71 stores could be closed, ending in the termination of all employees.

Representatives from New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick among others have indicated over the past few days that a deal from Arthur T. Demoulas to purchase the current majority stake in the company from Arthur S. Demoulas for $1.5 billion have nearly concluded.

However, board meetings to discuss that potential agreement were cancelled on Sunday and Tuesday.

The Westford Template will have more information about the Market Basket situation within Westford specifically as it becomes available.
