Westford Wins Carrotoke Prize

The Westford Agricultural Commission is the champion in the Kitchen Gardners International “Carrotoke” contest.

Hundreds of entrants from local groups across the country sent in their videos of people singing into carrots as part of an effort to spread the word about locally grown food.

DSC_0025For Westford’s entry, a parody from Disney’s Frozen called “Let it Grow”, the Agricultural Commission has won $500 to put toward agricultural projects in town, such as the planned community garden on Graniteville Road.

CLARIFICATIONS: The parody video was entitled “Let Us Grow”, the original song from the movie was entitled “Let It Go.”

The funding will be used for supplies at the new community garden.

UPDATE 1:29 p.m. 12/3 – There will be an organizational meeting on Dec. 4 at the Town Hall Conference Room to talk about the gardens, time TBA.
