The following information came from the Westford Fire Department.

Aug. 17, 7:33 p.m. – Firefighters were dispatched to Merrill’s Quarry after reports of a brush fire near the property’s access road.

Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered that they needed to enter through the Vineyard Road entrance due to a bulldozer blocking the way.

The fire was quickly extinguished with 250 gallons of water/foam with little damage.

Aug. 22, 7:40 p.m. – Firefighters were dispatched to the F.E. Fletcher Social Club to extinguish a fire inside a car.

An off-duty Lowell firefighter was standing near the car leading the firefighters where the fire was, which came from the motor of the car.

The off-duty firefighter said he believed the fire began due to power steering oil in the parking lot as he lost power steering as he turned into the parking lot.

The fire was quickly extinguished thanks to an extinguisher just before the firefighters arrived.

Sept. 1, 8:41 a.m. – An individual on Main Street called with concerns over a smoke detector, which had activated. Upon investigation, no smoke was found. Firefighters advised the resident to clean or replace the detector.

Sept. 1, 1:55 p.m. – An alarm system at the Robinson School activated, with an individual also calling the Fire Department indicating the smell of natural gas inside the building.

After an investigation, no smell could be found, and the alarm was reset.

Sept. 2, 9:59 a.m. – Firefighters were dispatched to St. Jude Medical on Robbins Road after individuals were reported trapped in an elevator.

However, employees from the elevator company were able to get the individuals out of the elevator before firefighters could arrive.
