The following information came from the Westford Fire Department
Aug. 8, 9:12 p.m. – A resident on Banbury Drive called after hearing a smoke alarm from their basement. It was determined that the smoke detector was no longer functioning and it should be replaced, no danger was found.
Aug. 14, 2:54 p.m. – One resident on Byrne Avenue called for assistance after hearing “a beeping noise” coming from the basement.
Ultimately it turned out to be a low battery on the Verizon box. The homeowner was advised to call Verizon.
Aug. 15, 6:51 p.m. – An engine was dispatched to investigate a lightning strike on Depot Street near Butternut Road.
A homeowner near where the strike occurred said she had no power and that her circuit breaker panel had been tripped. Additionally, the strike impacted an underground electronic dog fence and also impacted a nearby transformer located in the homeowner’s garage.
After reviewing the scene, the homeowner was advised to call an electrician.
