The 11th annual Westford Farmers Market season re-opens on the Westford Common on Main Street, Tuesday, June 20 from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and everyone in Westford and beyond is welcome to join in the festivities.

Shop for local farm fresh foods and products, and arts and crafts from local vendors.  Enjoy listening to local musicians or relaxing on the green, while choosing from a variety of lunch or dinner options including Middle Eastern kebobs, Pilipino prepared foods, Greek favorites such as spanakopita, and Samosa Man’s specialties.

“The highlight of the day for many is the community atmosphere and opportunity to connect with family, friends, and neighbors all while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine,” said Gloria Gilbert, founding director of Westford Farmers Market and Sustainable Westford.

Selling products will be Farmer Fred, a honey vendor, Gaouette Farm, Carlson Orchards (boasting a fantastic peach crop this season to make up for last year’s dismal crop) and Farmer Dave who manages the town’s Hill Orchard in Westford.

This season’s newcomers include Laszlo Family Farm, specializing in raising rare breed livestock selling pork, lamb, and eggs as well as foods for healthy pets. They’ve been awarded Bone Appetit’s Best Canine Treat for a third time. The farm won in 2003, 2010 and 2017.

Bittersweet Herb Farm is on board, offering the finishing touches to a great fresh salad, selling sauces and infused oils and vinegars. Minuteman Kettle Corn and Tea is the Way will try out the market for the first time. Boston Sword and Tuna, otherwise known as “the fish lady,” will return. Purple Carrot Bread, Bagel Alley, and Westford winery, Aaronap Cellars, are returning.

There will be crafts and entertainment for children — the kids’ face painting, games, and activities are free and managed by Westford Academy high schoolers. In addition, educational information on sustainability and current green topics and natural products such as non-toxic tick repellents will be available weekly at the Market.

Each week features a theme, and this season includes Electric Car Day as well as Meet your Babysitter Day, whereby parents can come meet potential babysitters from the high school (sign up is required) click here to sign up. There’s also a guided hike scheduled to leave from the market later in the season in partnership with the Healthy Westford Committee.

The market is offering SNAP Bonus Bucks again this season.  Funded solely through private citizens, the program allows SNAP users to double their purchasing power at our market. Residents can make a donation at the SNAP booth at the market or online.

Free parking for the Westford Farmers Market is available at First Parish Church United, J.V. Fletcher Library, Roudenbush Community Center and the Abbot School.

Gilbert expressed thanks to Sustainable Spirit Sponsors for their support: Emerson Hospital, the First Parish Church United of Westford and Wicked Local.
