Welcome to a new season at the PCA.
We spent the summer sprucing up the building inside and out and planning for this year’s extraordinary events. If you’ve driven by Lincoln Street in the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed the construction around Westford Common. The PCA is one of the beneficiaries of the MassDOT Complete Streets grant, funding improvements to pedestrian safety around town. Thanks to the town of Westford, the Common Restoration Project, and the Town Center Traffic and Parking Committee, there is now a bump out of granite curbing in front of the PCA at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Boston Road. The squared-off corner means slower right turns, and provides more safe space for patrons to congregate in front of the building. In addition, the crosswalk from the Common to the PCA will be moved further down Lincoln Street. It will be finished in faux brick, courtesy of our Board of Directors. These changes will also provide another parking space in front of the building. Town officials estimate construction will be complete by the end of August. Thank you to everyone who made this project possible!
In the gallery this September and October, we will display the works of local artists, Janet and Ku-chuan Hsiao. Ku-chuan is a genetic engineer and bird/small animal photographer. Janet fell in love with painting at age 12, and is intrigued by color and light in flower gardens. Don’t miss the “Birds and Blooms” exhibition created by this talented husband and wife team. Meet Janet and Ku-chuan Hsiao at their Art Reception on Sunday, Oct. 8, 1 to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Enjoy the exhibit Sundays in September and October (beginning 9/10/17) from noon until 2:00 PM and by appointment.
Join us for a special event on Saturday, Sept. 9 when we host Westford’s own Katie McNally and Friends for a night of spectacular world music and sharing of friendships, old and new. One Person at a Time, One Humanity Closer. Come hear these internationally acclaimed musicians in an intimately beautiful and high-spirited celebration. It will be a night you won’t soon forget. Proceeds to benefit NuDay Syria, a local organization that provides support to orphaned children and mothers in Syria.
Our first Comedy Show of the season is Saturday, Sept. 23, featuring members of the talented ImprovBoston troupe! Join us for an innovative night of laughs created especially for the PCA.
We finish out the month with a Chamber Concert featuring Yilin You, Nathaniel Farny, and Chamber Series Artistic Director, Shay Rudolph performing “Compositions by Former Child Prodigies”. Enjoy works by Mozart and Mendelssohn on Sunday, Sept. 24.
