WESTFORD — Here’s the May 11 edition of the Wednesday Whiteboard, where WestfordCAT highlights important dates and events during the week in Westford.

News and upcoming events around town

The Apple Blossom Festival begins on Wednesday, May 11 and concludes on Sunday, May 15. The parade will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 10 a.m. WestfordCAT will be livestreaming the event. A schedule of events can be found here.

Darshana: A Glimpse into Hindu Culture will be held on Saturday, May 14 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at First Parish Church. “I want my neighbors and community to be informed about me and other Westford Hindi community members,” said Vinod Kushwaha, a local volunteer helping to host the event. 

The League of Women Voters of Westford and the Westford Historical Society and Museum will host a mock Constitutional Convention on Wednesday, May 11, at 7 p.m. Participants, acting as delegates representing Westford’s villages, will debate the Federal Negative and the making of the U.S. Constitution.

The Cameron Senior Center is hosting a six-week Decluttering Workshop starting on Wednesday, May 11 at 10 a.m. The workshop will be held every two weeks until Wednesday, July 6. Attendees should RSVP at 978-692-5523.

An update on the Recreation Feasibility Study will be provided during the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m. The $100,000 study was first authorized in 2017 at Annual Town Meeting.

Westford Firefighters responded to an additional brush fire near the Graniteville Ballfields on Monday morning. This comes as a series of brush fires has plagued the area for the last month and a half. An investigation is ongoing. The department is asking residents to report any information to the Westford Public Safety Communication center at 978-399-2345.

The  deadline to register to vote for the Annual Town Meeting is Friday, May 21. 

Government Meetings

The Capital Planning Committee will meet virtually on Friday, May 13 at 8:30 a.m.

The Communications Advisory Committee will meet virtually on Thursday, May 10 at 10 a.m.

The Conservation Commission will meet in-person on Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee will meet virtually on Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m.

The Monuments and Memorials Committee will meet in-person on Monday, May 16 at 2 p.m.

The Westford Parks and Recreation Commission will meet virtually on Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m.

The Westford Recycling Commission will meet in-person on Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m.
