I am writing to support the re-election of Jim Arciero as our State Representative. Jim has been a progressive on equity issues, particularly protecting a woman’s right to decide on abortion, an issue of utmost importance and one that has been near and dear to me for many years.Â
The last two years, Jim voted both for the ROE Act and the Abortion Access Act, both critical legislative efforts to protect a woman’s fundamental right to make her own decisions about her reproductive health care either by herself and with her doctor.Â
The Abortion Access bill protects women coming into Massachusetts who might utilize our pro-choice law by making sure both she and her health care provider do not face legal consequences from other states that might have restrictive abortion laws. This bill is a critical step to ensure that women everywhere in the U.S. have the same rights as those in MA.Â
Representative Arciero is the only candidate in the race who supports this fundamental right and his opponent, if given the chance, would turn back the clock on the progress we have made on reproductive freedom over many years.Â
This issue is especially critical now that the Supreme Court has overturned the Roe v. Wade decision, a ruling which was supposed to settle this matter almost 50 years ago. Â Please join me along with many other MA voters and especially MA women for whom this issue is front and center in voting for Jim Arciero for State Representative on November 8th.Â
