WESTFORD — The Westford Regional Art Event is returning to the Parish Center for the Arts this fall, with registration well underway.
Looking to submit artwork?
Online registration opened on Aug. 19 and will close at midnight on Sept. 15.
Artists are limited to two original works each, with a maximum size of 24 inches by 24 inches. Artists may forfeit their second entry if they wish to submit a larger piece of artwork, with a height and width maximum of 36 inches by 36 inches.
Artwork must be framed and ready to hang. Children’s artwork may be mounted on board but must be suitable to hang.
The center has a number of judging categories, including:
- Computer-generated art
- Drawing
- Fiber art
- Metals and jewelry
- Mixed media (collage, etc.)
- Opaque paint (oil, acrylic, etc.)
- Photography
- Printmaking (engraving, etching, etc.)
- Pastel
- Sculpture
- Transparent paint (watercolor etc.)
The event typically showcases over 500 pieces of artwork from over 350 artists of all ages.
Organizers encourage anyone to submit their artwork to the center, regardless of age or skill level. The Parish Center for the Arts does not judge artwork as it receives it.
Pieces may be offered up for sale.
Artists who wish to participate should register online and must pay an entry fee before submitting artwork.
Looking to volunteer?
Volunteers are still needed to help with the event. The center needs volunteers to receive and hang art, take down art and for gallery sitting. Sign up to volunteer online.
Schedule
Artwork can be dropped off on Sept. 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sept. 18 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
An adult awards reception will be held on Sept. 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A children’s award reception will be held on Sept. 23 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Gallery open hours will be held on the following dates:
- Sept. 23 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sept. 28 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
