ARPA Funds Returned, Red Hat to Leave Westford in 2025: Wednesday Whiteboard

WESTFORD — Here’s the Dec. 27 edition of Wednesday Whiteboard, where WestfordCAT highlights important dates and events during the week in and around Westford.

News around town

Several committees have open seats. Apply online.

$40,979.45 has been returned to the town’s ARPA budget. Repairs for the Westford Academy denitrification tank were approximately $114,000 under budget. $75,000 will be retained by the Water Department to target other critical repairs.

Red Hat will not renew its lease and close its office in Westford on May 31, 2025.

The Town of Westford has received approximately $477,000 in funding from the “Fair Share” amendment, a 2022 voter-approved constitutional amendment that imposes a 4% tax on income over $1 million to fund infrastructure and education in the state.

Community Wellness Assistance is now available for drop-in hours. The Community Wellness Coordinator will be available on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the J.V. Fletcher Library.

The Health Department still has free COVID tests available. Stop by the department on the second floor in Town Hall to pick one up.

The Health Department has distributed a number of Narcan kits to businesses across town.

Important municipal dates

FY25 budget discussions have begun. The School Committee is scheduled to continue their budget discussions on Jan. 2, 2024 at 7 p.m.

The Planning Board is scheduled to open its public hearing on a multi-family housing zoning bylaw on Jan. 22, 2024.

Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for March 23, 2024.

The annual town election is scheduled for May 7, 2024.

Government Meetings

The Health Insurance Trust Fund will meet virtually on Jan. 3 at 2:45 p.m.
