The Finance Committee will evaluate the Westford Public Schools budget during a Jan. 18 hearing. The School Committee voted 6-1 to recommend a needs-based budget which will require a Proposition 2 1/2 override.

Westford Climate Action (WCA) presents “Neighbor to Neighbor: Solar Energy 101,” a free, in-person and online event on Thursday, Jan. 18, 7 p.m., at the J. V. Fletcher Library, 50 Main Street, Westford. The evening will include a comprehensive overview of rooftop solar systems by a WCA member as well as Westford residents sharing their experiences with going solar.
This seminar is also sponsored by the Westford Clean Energy and Sustainability Committee, Westford’s Sustainability Coordinator, and the J. V. Fletcher Library.

From the Westford Academy Athletic Hall of Fame:
The Athletic Hall of Fame board is hosting a fundraiser to defray the costs of an October 2024 induction ceremony for Westford Academy athletes. The board has raised $1,395 of $2,000 at the time of reporting.
The scratch ticket raffle is $10 for one entry, $25 for three entries and $50 for seven entries. Prizes include one $50 scratch ticket and five $20 and five $30 tickets.
Entries can be purchased on Venmo at @WAHallofFame. A drawing will be held on Feb. 9.

Community Wellness Assistance is now available for drop-in hours. The Community Wellness Coordinator will be available on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the J.V. Fletcher Library.

The Health Department still has free COVID tests available. Stop by the department on the second floor in Town Hall to pick one up.
The Health Department has distributed several Narcan kits to businesses across town.
Important municipal dates and election information
The School Committee is hosting several FY25 budget roadshows, including:
- With the League of Women Voters at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the WestfordCAT studio.
- At the Cameron Senior Center at noon on Jan. 26.
- With the Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library on Feb. 1 at 4:30 p.m. on Zoom.
Additional meeting dates will be announced in the coming days.
Thinking of running for office? Nomination papers can be picked up at the town clerk’s office. The deadline to file is March 19.
Early voting for the presidential primary begins on Feb. 24 and concludes on Feb. 28.
The presidential primary for both the Democratic and Republican parties will be held on March 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The deadline to register to vote or change affiliation during the primary is Feb. 12.
Annual Town Meeting is on March 23 at 9 a.m. at Westford Academy. The deadline to register to vote for the meeting is March 13.
The annual town election will be held on May 7 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The deadline to register to vote for this election is April 27.
Government Meetings
The Communications Advisory Committee will meet virtually on Jan. 18 at 4 p.m.
The Community Preservation Committee will meet virtually on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
The Economic Development Committee will meet on Jan. 18 at 8:15 a.m.
