WESTFORD β€” The Town of Westford has been awarded a $75,000 grant for cybersecurity improvements.

The grant, awarded from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, will be used to enhance security measures for both town and school systems.

“Cybersecurity continues to be a major focus for the IT Department and the Town administration in general,” reads a July 17 press release from the town. “Financial constraints make it difficult to keep pace with the changing methods and tactics of cyber criminals but grants like this can enable the municipality to transition to platforms offering better levels of security and control by paying for conversion and migration assistance”

The EOPSS has awarded approximately $7 million in grants to communities and state agencies under the municipal and state cybersecurity grant programs.

Both programs are funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Administration.
