WESTFORD — Deborah Sampson, the first female American soldier will be featured in next week’s event at the Westford Museum featuring critically acclaimed programming from History at Play.

In A Revolution of Her Own!, History at Play’s founder and artistic director J. Kalaora will host an immersive solo performance as Deborah Sampson, the first woman to successfully enlist, fight in and be honorably discharged from the American military.

Sampson was an indentured servant by five years old, breaking many rules to achieve greater goals in life at a time where women were unable to vote or own property. She spent one and a half year’s in active combat during her tenure.

The program will feature interactive stories and authentic colonial attire as audiences are brought from Sampson’s arduous upbringing through her journey in the military.

History at Play has been featured in state and national media such as WBZ Radio, WCVB Boston, The Associated Press and The New York Times, with over 2,000 performances nationwide.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. at the Westford Museum, 2 Boston Rd. A suggested donation of $10 per person is requested.
