WESTFORD — Town elections are coming up in May, here’s what you need to know.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 6.

Westford residents who live in precincts one, three, four or seven may vote at Westford Academy. Residents who live in precincts two, five or six may vote at Stony Brook School. 

Residents may cast their votes for one Planning Board member and one Housing Authority member who will hold those positions for a five-year term. Two-year term positions for two Board of Health members, two Board of Library Trustees members, two School Committee members and two Select Board members. Then, for a one-year term, one member for Library Trustees.

Residents may vote early in person at the town clerk’s office at Town Hall, 55 Main St., during the following times:

  • April 28: 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.
  • April 29: 9:00 a.m. — 6:30 p.m.
  • April 30: 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.
  • May 1: 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.
  • May 2: 9:00 a.m. — 1:00 p.m.

No-excuse vote by mail is also available. Ballots may be requested online or by contacting the Town Clerk’s office at 978-692-5515. Mail-in ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on May 6.

Scott Hazelton and Andrea Peraner-Sweet will be leaving their positions on the Select Board with candidates for their seats being Meghan O’Connell, Sean Kelly, Noelle Donovan and Heather Marie Fitzpatrick.

Terms are expiring for Elizabeth “Buffie” Diercks and Glen Secor on the Library Trustees with one seat vacant. Diercks and Secor are running for re-election with Mary Siegel as a new candidate.

Robert “Bob” Shaffer’s term is expiring on the Planning Board, he is running for re-election with Ming Zhang contesting the seat. 

Marisol Garcia and Sean Kelly’s terms are expiring on the School Committee with Shana Farnsworth and Jessica Silverman stepping up as candidates for their positions.
