WESTFORD — Household hazardous waste collection is set for Saturday.
The town will hold hazardous waste collection for households on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Westford Highway Department, 28 North St.
Proof of residency is required. There is a fee; checks are preferred, made out to Town of Westford.
Residents are asked to leave all hazardous materials in their original containers with tightly sealed caps or lids. Pack the containers in sturdy upright cardboard boxes that are padded with newsprint or scrap paper, and transport directly to the drop-off site. Do not mix chemicals or smoke while handling hazardous materials.
Some items — such as motor oil, automotive and tractor lead-acid batteries, button and rechargeable batteries, and fluorescent bulbs and tubes — can be recycled locally, year-round, and for no fee.
