WESTFORD — The Westford Health Department announced that Nabnasset Lake will be closed off to swimmers on Thursday until 4 p.m. for the water to be chemically treated to combat algae growth.

This closure will include Edward’s Beach.

According to the Westford Health Department, the treatment is expected to help control the growth of nuisance algae, and is being carried out through a permit issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and an order of conditions issued by the Westford Conservation Commission.
