Director’s Corner: Congratulations, readers of all ages, on your participation and support of the Fletcher Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program!
We thank the Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library, Inc. for supporting and funding all aspects of our three (children’s, young adult, and adult) Summer Reading Programs. It remains gratifying and rewarding to encourage so many enthusiastic readers of all ages!
We look forward to hosting Fall Programs. Enjoy the remainder of the summer and the Labor Day weekend!
Holiday Closing: In observance of Labor Day, the Library will be closed Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1. The Library will re-open on Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m.
Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale: This sale will take place at First Parish Church United, on the Common at 48 Main St. – Friday, September 12, 6:30-9, Members Preview night, Saturday, September 13, 10:00-4:00, Sunday, September 14, 1:00-4:00, fill a bag for $10.
Come get a bargain and support the Friends! The Fall Book Sale will include thousands of gently used books plus CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, LPs, and Blu-ray discs. Credit card payments, in addition to cash and checks, are accepted for purchases.
NOTE NEW LOCATION: This sale will take place at First Parish Church United, on the Common at 48 Main St.
Parking is available at the church, on Lincoln Street, and in marked spaces on Connell Drive. Additional parking lots are available at Roudenbush Community Center, Frost School, Town Hall, and the Westford Police Department.

Weekly Children’s Drop-In Craft: This year, National Hummingbird Day is on Saturday, September 6th! It may seem unbelievable, but these little birds can beat their wings up to 50 times per second! Celebrate the amazing hummingbird by making one in the Children’s Room.
Virtual Job Search Help for 50 & OVER – Career Story (Tell Me a Bit About Yourself): Wednesday, September 3, 9:30-11:30 a.m. The Massachusetts Library Collaborative’s 50+ Job Seekers Group meets biweekly on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., via Zoom. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “Encore Career”, this networking group program is perfect for you! Take advantage of these free, weekly skill-building and networking group meetings. A new topic will be covered at each meeting. Register here.
Adult Nonfiction Book Club: Tuesday, September 2 at 6:30 p.m. We’ll meet in person at 515 Groton Road to discuss Becoming Earth: How Our Planet Came to Life, by Ferris Jabr. Copies are available at the Main Desk. The audiobook is available to download from Libby/Overdrive. No registration required.
Adult Book Club: Thursday, September 11 at 6:30 p.m. We’ll meet in person at 515 Groton Rd. to discuss The Ride of Her Life by Elizabeth Letts. Copies are available at the Main Desk. Books with Bunnies Storytime!: Thursday, September 18 from 1:00-2:20 p.m., Good Pickin’ Farm, 5 Gould Rd, Westford, MA, 01886
Love books? Love bunnies? Great! We welcome you to join us at Good Pickin’ Farm while we cuddle the cutest little bunnies and listen to an interactive storytime with one of the friendly farmers! This storytime is best for children ages 5 and under.
Registration for this event opens Thursday, August 28, at 10:00 a.m. Registration is required.
