WestfordCAT (Westford Community Access Television) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the Westford, Massachusetts community through accessible media resources.
Our mission is to promote and encourage the use of public access resources to enhance a free and diverse exchange of ideas and interests that foster community participation and education.
To fulfill this mission, our primary goal is to be the first place Westford residents turn to for news and information, especially when they’re interested in making or watching programs of local interest that are not covered by mainstream media. We’re committed to assisting our community in sharing this content with both local and extended audiences.
We offer a range of services and resources to achieve these objectives:
- A free, professionally curated news blog: Produced by a professional journalist, this daily digest of local news and information is emailed to subscribers each morning, keeping the community informed and engaged.
- Comprehensive media training: We provide both group and individual classes in media production, empowering community members to create their own content.
- State-of-the-art equipment access: Residents have access to a full range of on-location and studio recording equipment, enabling high-quality local productions.
- Multi-channel programming: We operate three dedicated channels for public, educational, and government programming, ensuring a diverse range of local content is always available.
- Online content library: Our website features a video-on-demand library, making local content accessible 24/7.
- Extended reach through social media: Much of our content is also available on our YouTube channel (@WestfordCAT), broadening our audience beyond traditional cable television.
By providing these resources, WestfordCAT serves as a vital platform for community engagement, local storytelling, and civic participation. We strive to amplify diverse voices, preserve local heritage, and foster a sense of connection among Westford residents. Our organization plays a crucial role in keeping the community informed, engaged, and empowered in an era of media consolidation and digital transformation.
Whether you’re a budding filmmaker, a local official sharing important updates, or a resident seeking hyperlocal news, WestfordCAT is your community media hub. We’re committed to helping Westford residents not only consume but also create and share meaningful content that resonates with their local and extended communities, ultimately strengthening the fabric of our town through the power of community media.
