Westford’s unemployment rate went down in April according to recently released state figures, still outpacing the Massachusetts average.
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development reported Westford’s unemployment rate coming in at 3.3 percent in April 2015, a full percent drop from April 2014 and .8 percent better than the state average.
It also marked a .4 percent drop from March.
This figure was comparable to Westford’s neighboring towns, which ranged from 2.9 percent in Acton to 3.9 percent in Tyngsborough.
Among towns with workforces within a thousand people of Westford’s total workforce population, there was also good news. There, only Acton had a better rate, with Walpole also having a 3.3 percent rate.
In that group, Wilmington, Stoneham and Canton also had unemployment rates below four percent while Ludlow and Wareham had rates above five percent.
Brookline had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.2 percent, while Provincetown had the highest rate in the state at 19.7 percent.
