Featured Staff Book Review, Flight Patterns by Karen White, recommended by Judy Madsen. White’s latest book involves long held family secrets, Limoges China and beekeeping. Georgia Chambers, an expert on fine china, left her family home in Florida amid family turmoil to start a new life in New Orleans. After a thirteen year absence she returns home to work on identifying a unique china pattern and to try and mend her broken relationship with her sister Maisy. Colorful characters abound inside the matrix of the ups and downs of family life. A satisfying read, and as a bonus, I learned quite a bit about beekeeping!

The Library Book Clubs’ Reading Lists: Librarians often hear patrons exclaim, “I can’t make the (choose one of our Book Discussion Groups) but I am reading all the books on their selection list.” We are always thrilled to hear this. Hard copies of the book selection brochures for the Library Book Discussion Group (that meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m.) and of the Monday Murder Mystery Club (that meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 10:30 a.m.) are always available to pick up at the Library. Further, they can be be accessed from the Library web site. Just go to the Library’s web site homepage and click on “Programs” from the horizontal menu at the top of the page. Next, from the vertical menu of the left hand side of the Programs page you have the option to click on the name of either book club (and the Cookbook Book Club as well) to see the Reading Lists. The Book Clubs’ meeting times are listed as well. Newcomers are always welcome to drop in.
