FRANCONIA, N.H. — A 19-year-old hiker who is considered “overdue” is missing in the White Mountain National Forest, authorities say.

Emily Sotelo, of Westford, planned to hike Mount Lafayette, Mount Haystack and Mount Flume on Sunday. She was dropped off at Lafayette Place Campground at approximately 5 a.m. Sunday morning.

She is described to officials as 5 feet 3 inches tall, 115 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a brown jacket and exercise pants.

Officials say the temperature on the ridge was near-zero, with wind chills up to minus-30 degrees.

A number of crews and a National Guard Blackhawk helicopter are participating in the search.

Hikers who may have seen Sotelo Sunday are urged to contact New Hampshire State Police at 603-271-1170.
