WESTFORD — Westford Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and secure their valuables this summer.

“We have seen an uptick in organized groups surveilling the parking lots of these areas in addition to shopping plazas, gyms, and restaurants,” the department wrote on social media.

They continued, “many times these perpetrators will look into vehicles, and if they see anything valuable from the outside, they will break a window and be gone in a matter of moments. This can be accomplished in the time it takes you to run in and get a coffee, pick up food at a restaurant, or go into the grocery store to pick up a single item.”

The department also reminds residents to remove valuables and lock their vehicles at home.

“An ounce of prevention goes a long way,” they said.
