WESTFORD — The 35 Town Farm Road property, slated to be repurposed as senior housing, faces another critical step as the Select Board is scheduled to approve the project’s PILOT agreement on Tuesday.
The project’s payment in lieu of taxes agreement would provide the town with $12,500 per year, set to increase annually by 1% for 30 years.
Plans for the property include 29 one bedroom and six studio apartments, as well as act as a new home for the Westford Food Pantry.
Discussions on the future of the property began in 2019 as the 35 Town Farm Task Force aimed to identify new uses for the 19th century building. On Nov. 12 2019, the Select Board voted unanimously to recommend that the property be converted to senior housing.
The development, which received $2 million in funding from voters at a June 12, 2021 Annual Town Meeting, will house 35 affordable units for seniors over 62 years old. At least 85% of the units would be priced and rented to individuals who earn less than $57,750, or 60% of the area median income.
The Select Board is scheduled to discuss the agreement with David Hedison, executive director of the Chelmsford Housing Authority and Will Naser, the town’s Principal Assessor at 7:25 p.m. during their Dec. 17 meeting in the second floor meeting room of Town Hall at 55 Main St.
