Letter to the Editor: Westford Climate Action urges residents to go for the Gold

This Letter to the Editor was submitted by Carol Morse and Jim O’Connell, co-chairs of the Westford Climate Action.

WESTFORD — The Westford Climate Action appreciates Emily Collins’ Nov. 6 WestfordCAT article, Town Renews Power Options Program, Extending Stable Rates and Clean Energy Through 2028.

Her informative article goes a long way to clarify a somewhat confusing contract and what it means to Westford residents.

We would also like to remind residents that the new three-year contract offers a Power Options Program (POP) Gold option that sources 100% renewable energy from New England suppliers at a price lower than both the Standard (Default) product of the prior contract and National Grid’s current Basic Service rate.

Choosing the Gold option helps lower carbon emissions and supports nearby clean energy production while saving money for Westford households.

This is a win for both the environment and consumers’ pocketbooks, and we urge residents to consider choosing the POP Gold option.
