WESTFORD — The Westford Public Works Department announced on Thursday that a new traffic pattern change is coming to the intersection of Plain Road and Nutting Road, beginning on Wednesday Nov. 12.
“The changes are being made as part of the Plain Road Sidewalk Project and are intended to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for both pedestrians and motorists at this intersection,” Public Works said in the announcement.
Public Works said the changes include converting the north leg of the intersection to a single, one-way lane for vehicles traveling westbound from Plain Road onto Nutting Road.
As a result, “drivers on Nutting Road approaching Plain Road must keep right of the island and stop before turning left or right onto Plain Road,” Public Works said. “Plain Road vehicles traveling westbound may still turn right onto Nutting Road using the new one-way lane but must yield to vehicles already on Nutting Road.”
Public works also said there will be new signs and pavement marking installed to support the new traffic pattern.
