Unless otherwise noted, the following programs are made possible by the Friends of the Library.

Director’s Corner: Is your New Year’s resolution to learn a new language?   Are you traveling to a foreign country for your upcoming summer vacation?  Be sure to check out the Rosetta Stone language database.  Learn a new language with Rosetta Stone’s proven immersion method, which integrates listening, reading, and speaking. There are 30 different languages to choose from. New- advanced learning levels for each of the languages are now available to Westford patrons! 

Adult Programs

Monday Mystery Book Club, Monday, January 26 at 2:30 p.m. in person at Roudenbush Community Center, 65 Main St in Westford. The Mystery Book Club will discuss The Crow Trap by Ann Cleeves. Copies are available atthe  Main Desk. The ebook and audiobook are available to download from Libby. The audiobook is also available to download from Hoopla. Adult Nonfiction Book Club–Tuesday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. – Is truth stranger than fiction? Is it more entertaining? Find out!  We’ll meet in person at the library’s temporary location, 515 Groton Road, to discuss The Coming Wave, by Mustafa Suleyman. Copies are available at the Main Desk. Virtual: An Evening For People Who Love Animals — Melanie Kaplan & E.B. Bartels Discuss Their Books Wednesday, February 4, 7:00 p.m.

Authors Melanie Kaplan (Lab Dog: A Beagle and His Human Investigate the Surprising World of Animal Research) and E.B. Bartels (Good Grief: On Loving Pets, Here and Hereafter) will discuss their new books on important topics of interest to pet owners and animal lovers. Register here.

VIRTUAL: The Art Spy – The Extraordinary Untold Tale of WWII Resistance Hero Rose Valland, Wednesday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m.

 Author Michelle Young will discuss her new book, The Art Spy: The Extraordinary Untold Tale of WWII Resistance Hero Rose Valland. A riveting and stylish saga set in Paris during World War II, The Art Spy uncovers the true story of how an unlikely heroine infiltrated the Nazi leadership to save the world’s most treasured masterpieces. The book was longlisted for the 2025 American Library of Paris Book Award. Young, an award-winning journalist and author, is a graduate of Harvard College in the History of Art and Architecture and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, where she is a Professor of Architecture. Kids and Teen Programs

Gnome Painting: Wednesday, January 28, at 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., Westford Recreation Department at Roudenbush Community Center – 3rd floor.

Join Art Educator Julie Harrold in a whimsical, fun painting of a Gnome! Participants will learn how to add light and shadow to create form and use brushes to include details that make all the difference! Acrylic painting on 11×14 canvas. For grades 5-12. Registration is required.

Create a Valentine Heart Mosaic with Tiny Tile Mosaics: Monday, February 9, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Roudenbush Community Center, Room 106

Create a beautiful handmade mosaic heart to give to family or friends for Valentine’s Day! Join Crystal D’Abbrachio, of Tiny Tile Mosaics, for this fun workshop. All supplies are included. This workshop is open to children ages 6 and up. Participants will learn about mosaic art and have the opportunity to work with both mosaic and gem tiles to create their heart mosaic in a wood bezel. Mosaic tiles will be applied with adhesive during the workshop. The grout (and grouting instructions) will be sent home with participants to finish once it is fully dry. Registration is required.
