There is glitter on the floor after the party. And that is because we were celebrating the New Year. Happy 2026, my gorgeous readers. It is a new year, but the same old Word on the Street, Westford’s version.
As I have mentioned before, and I know you are thinking, “Lindsey, literally cool it,” this column is where I dish out the hot topics and events trending around town and beyond. For New readers, hi and welcome. If there is ever something you would like to see covered, email me at lhanrahan@westfordcat.org. (Fair warning, I consider The Housemaid hitting theaters a major headline.)
As we step into the New Year, most of us find ourselves creating those same old New Year’s resolutions. We may choose to focus more on our healthy eating habits, hit the gym a few more times a week, or maybe make an effort to smile at a stranger on the street.
I do not know about you, but I once again found myself charging into the New Year, full speed ahead, resolutions on my sleeve, and fully convinced I would keep them afloat. News flash, everyone. They never truly made it past March. And if they did, I may have taken a few detours along the way.
This year, I decided to erase the pressure, delete the societal noise, and take the new year into my own hands. Instead of one overwhelming resolution, I am looking at this year as a few goals I want to reach before it comes to a close. I am going to make a list of at least five things I want to achieve before that clock strikes twelve on December 31, 2026.
Just to give you a sneak peek:
- Volunteer for at least 3 organizations
- Become a Certified Pilates Instructor
- Compliment a stranger

I decided to make the new year about giving back and pushing forward. I have found myself so lucky to have such great jobs, friends, family, peers, mentors, and hobbies. I encourage you to do a mental reset, file through what’s important, figure out what you want to achieve this year, and do it for you! I also encourage you to fill out the New Year’s resolutions form on the website, courtesy of my fellow WCAT writer, Emily Collins.
What are Westford's New Year's resolutions?
I wish you all the best year yet!
