NABNASSET — The Westford Water Department responded to two separate water main breaks in Nabnasset last week, causing nearby residents to temporarily lose water.
Around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 19, the Water Department responded to the first break, which occurred on Lake Shore Drive South. While repairs were being made, residents between Old Wood Road and Pine Road temporarily lost water service. Water Department officials said the residents could experience low water pressure or discolored water during the work.
Following the repairs on Lake Shore Drive South, Water Department crews responded to a second water main break on Stony Brook Road, shortly after 1 p.m. the same day. Residents on Stony Brook Road between Plain Road and Sherwood Road also temporarily lost water service while repairs were made. Officials said residents in the surrounding area could also experience low water pressure or discolored water until the work was completed.
The Water Department advised residents who were affected by either repair to run a cold water tap — preferably a bathtub faucet — for several minutes after service is restored to help flush any discolored water from household plumbing.
It is not yet clear what caused the water main breaks or if they were related.
