The Affordable Housing Committee met on Wednesday, September 2 to discuss updates to Westford’s housing needs assessment and housing production plan (HPP) and on the Committee’s current projects.
The Town’s current HPP is set to expire in October 2027. Westford worked with the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) to create a plan and is now working with NMCOG to update the HPP.
Long-term goals for the HPP include aligning Westford’s affordable housing production specifically with needs and the creation of targeted affordable housing for high-needs groups.
A working group to oversee the new Housing Needs Assessment consists of Committee members Kristi Bates, Ragi Ramachandran and Marianne Nelson. The anticipated tasks will include project management, public participation outreach, data collection and analysis
Updates for current projects include the following:
- Town Farm Rd & 37 Powers Road: Still working on receiving Mass DOT permits and receiving a permit for pedestrian sidewalks on Powers Road
- Littleton Rd – Westford Regency Inn: Still working design drawings for permits. Demolition anticipated to begin this month.
Committee member Nancy Cook also informed fellow members that she will coordinate plans to donate all the items remaining in the Westford Regency, including beds, chairs, linens, refrigerators and more.

The fire department will also hold training inside the Westford Regency before it’s completely demolished in October.
