Alkaline batteries can be dropped off at WestfordCAT during business hours, Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm.
Suggested donation for the service is $2 for a sandwich bag full of batteries and $5 for a gallon size bag.
While Alkaline batteries are not hazardous and can go in the trash, they are heavy and tapping into programs that recycle them helps reduce waste volumes and associated costs (tax $ spent burning our trash).
Most Alkaline Battery recycling programs have a small fee because the recovery of the recyclable/reusable materials has higher costs than typical recycling related processing, and profit margins are slim.
