The following information was provided by the Westford Fire Department
July 27, 5:24 p.m. – Firefighters were dispatched to Forrest Road after reports of smoke coming from a home.
Upon arrival, they spotted a fire on the side of the building near the gas meter. The fire was eventually contained, and crews removed approximately 48 sq. feet of siding from the home. Hundreds of gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire.
The homeowner was out of town, he was notified and power and gas were shut off to the house until further notice.
July 27, 4:28 p.m. – A potential lightning strike was reported at the East Boston Camps, with one individual calling the Fire Department reporting blue flames nearby.
She and another individual shut off electricity to cabins in the area, firefighters were dispatched to do a check.
After investigation, a small amount of propane was detected. Firefighters advised the individuals not use use the stoves until it could be inspected by a repair crew. It remained unclear if any buildings were struck by lightning.
July 30, 4:37 p.m. – A fire engine crew was dispatched to Powers Road after reports of a mulch pile on fire.
Before the firefighters could arrive, the fire was extinguished. No further danger was indicated.
