WESTFORD CENTER — A 16-year-old was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, among other charges, following a crash on Lowell Road on Saturday.
According to the Westford Police Department, the teenager crashed a vehicle into a wall at 18 Lowell Road shortly after 11 p.m. Police said the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Lowell Road and Providence Road. Officers determined that the vehicle was speeding at the time of the crash.
Although the teenager was injured, police said they were not transported to the hospital.
Following the crash, the teenager was arrested on an OUI as well as several other charges, including possession of alcohol under the age of 21, using fake identification to purchase alcohol, driving over the speed limit, failure to stop at a stop sign, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations.
Police said the teenager was then taken into custody and released to their parents immediately after the booking process was completed. An arraignment was scheduled to be held on Monday in Lowell Juvenile Court.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
