A Westford lawyer has returned home and he’s starting his own firm.
Now three weeks old, the Law Office of Alcorn and Owens is slowly coming to life, as evidenced in a packed welcoming open house on Wednesday afternoon.
Located at Gateway Plaza on Littleton Road, the firm is a joint venture of Westford resident Brian Alcorn and Lowell native Amsi Owens.
The two worked together at All-American Title in Chelmsford, where Alcorn moved full-time in 2015 after several years with Harkness Law in Westford.
Alcorn is a long-time Westford resident, serving on the Westford Historical Commission for nearly half a decade. While he enjoyed working at All-American Title, Alcorn says he wanted to branch out beyond real estate law into things like wills and contract reviews while also serving as his own boss.
“I liked living in Westford and working and being a part of the community,” he said.
The new office is right across the street from Harkness’ office, but Harkness has been supportive of her protégé’s decision to return home.
“We’re competition now, but not really,” he said. “We still get along great. We talk a lot still.”
Owens brings five years of experience in real estate law as well as fifteen years of experience in the real estate industry. She now lives in Chelmsford, but shared Alcorn’s desire to branch out into different types of law, as well as a chance to work in Westford.
“Brian has roots from Westford,” she said. “I was attracted to the community by the amount of community service that people who live here do.”
