Residents are invited to enjoy the Friends Annual Meeting Featured Speaker – Author, Brunonia Barry- on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. immediately following the Friends Annual Meeting.  Brunonia Barry is the New York Times and international best-selling author of “The Lace Reader”, “The Map of True Places”, and her latest book: “The Fifth Petal”.

The library will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 5 p.m. in observance of Veteran’s Day.  It will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.

Teen and Tween Make & Take Mondays: Monday, Oct. 30 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Imagine, create, and participate! Each Monday teens will participate in a variety of hands-on activities that will include making fun, seasonal crafts, exploring STEAM activities, and/or creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces. All materials will be provided at the program in the Library’s Meeting Room.  This week: Celebrating Hallowe’en and Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos).  This is a Free, drop-in event.

 Middle School Maker ART Club (Stony Brook): Wednesday, Nov. 1 & Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.  School Library club open to Stony Brook Middle School teens in grades 6 to 8.  Students actively participate in creating their own stop -motion Animation project once a month until May 2017 at the Stony Brook Middle School. Sign-up at the Stony Brook Middle School with the school librarian, Mrs. Smith.

Bimonthly Knitting Group: Monday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.  Do you enjoy knitting? Drop in to our informal knitting group with a new evening meeting time. The group meets the second Monday of the month from 3 to 5 p.m. and the fourth Monday of the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is a drop-in program that is open to all ages. Bring your latest project and share advice and socialize with other knitters. If you have any questions, please call Kristina Leedberg at 978-399-2309

English Conversation Circle: Every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Practice your English conversation skills and meet new friends in a relaxed and friendly environment. This program meets every Tuesday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mary Atwood room.  The group is led by Carol Morse. Registration is not required for this program. Older Magazine Giveaway: Would you like to take home some of the older magazines that the library will be recycling? To view our magazine collection visit our web site, choose Reference from the horizontal menu on the top of the home- page, then click on magazines /newspapers from the vertical menu on the left side of the page, scroll down the page and you will find that our magazine holdings are listed before newspapers. Email Sarah Regan at iwf@mvlc.org with your selection for magazine titles. The 2016 editions will be up for grabs on a first-come, first-serve basis. We ask that you take the entire year for each title requested. You will be notified when the magazines are ready to be picked up in December.
