Westford Superintendent Everett V. Olsen presents the Gordon B. Seavey Appreciation Award to retired Norman E. Day School Principal Kevin Regan.[Continue reading].
After 38 years as a Westford educator, Regan retired in June. He immediately began leading a fundraising campaign to build a new playground for the Day School. Concerns for the safety of the students prompted officials to remove the old equipment last spring.
Annual Town Meeting voters, on March 24, approved bonding $110K in Community Preservation funds for the playground, if needed. To date, the Day Playground Development Team has raised $83,946.18, according to its website and residents can still buy a brick to help out.
On the same day that Regan won the Seavey Award, he was also honored by the announcement that the Day School’s gymnasium was named the “Kevin Regan Gymnasium,” in recognition of his contribution as a physical education teacher and long-term principal.
