The Westford League of Women Voters held a warrant review on Oct. 4 to help voters decide on the 12 pending articles for special Town Meeting.

Three of those articles are expected to raise interest among voters. Article 5 seeks to apply $40K to perform baseline environmental testing in the area of 540 Groton Road. The location is the site of an approved asphalt plant that will be constructed there.

Article 6 will ask voters to approve a sum of money that will pay for the purchase of 63 Main Street. The house was badly damaged by fire in March 2016 and has remained vacant ever since. Homeowner Liz Adams accepted a bid from the town on Oct. 4 to purchase the house and its 2.93 acres for $600K.

The third article of interest is designed to help the town’s oldest residents with their property taxes. If approved, Article 11 would allow selectmen to ask state Legislators if they could establish a property tax exemption for Westford seniors.

Special Town Meeting takes place Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Abbot School.
