WESTFORD — The town released an update for the Boston Road Reconstruction Project in a news release on Friday.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has begun the Boston Road Reconstruction Project, which will install a new storm drainage system. The $12.1 million construction project will continue for the next several months.

The project is expected to add a new water main, an updated stormwater management system, reconstruction of the roadway, new traffic calming medians, a new sidewalk the full length of the project and bike lanes.

Residents should expect traffic along the road to be reduced to a single lane of alternating traffic where necessary. Residents should expect delays, drive with caution, reduce speed in the construction zone and plan their routes accordingly.

A Boston Road detour will be in effect on weekdays later this month between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Anyone looking for additional information on the planned detour route and construction can visit the project web page.
