CHELMSFORD, MA – State Representative James Arciero was honored by the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) with one of its inaugural Distinguished Service Awards during the organization’s Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, held October 15th at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts.

The award recognizes Representative Arciero’s legislative leadership and steadfast commitment to addressing the critical challenges facing communities across the NMCOG region and the Commonwealth. NMCOG’s new awards initiative celebrates individuals and partners whose work exemplifies the agency’s mission to advance regional collaboration, planning, and policy
that strengthen local communities.

The Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) serves as the regional planning agency for the Greater Lowell region. Established under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40B, NMCOG provides technical assistance, data analysis, and policy guidance to its member communities in areas such as transportation, land use, housing, economic development, and environmental sustainability. Through collaboration, advocacy, and innovation, NMCOG helps municipalities navigate complex planning and funding challenges to support a stronger, more resilient region.

Representative Arciero, who serves the 2nd Middlesex District representing the towns of Chelmsford, Littleton, and Westford, has been a consistent advocate for regional cooperation and equitable resource distribution. His work on issues such as transportation infrastructure, affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and education funding has had a tangible impact across the region, supporting both local needs and statewide progress.
