WESTFORD — The Stony Brook School math team won the Pascal division at the first meet of the Intermediate Math League of Eastern Massachusetts (IMLEM) season.

The team scored 200 points, its highest opening-meet score in league records, which for the school go back to 2013. It finished one point ahead of second-place Wellesley Middle School. Among all 53 schools in the league, it placed ninth.

The team was led by AG A., Lilly S. and Aris T., who each earned a perfect score of 18 out of 18, answering all twelve questions correctly.

IMLEM has held math competitions for middle school students since 1965. This year, 53 schools from eastern Massachusetts are competing in five meets. At each meet, every student answers four questions in each of three individual rounds, for a maximum of 18 points, and then the team works together on a team round. Schools are grouped into divisions of similar strength. Full results are at www.imlem.org. Questions from past meets are at www.matharchive.org/imlem/.
