Town Engineer Jeremy Downs provided updates on the Boston road project during this week’s Select Board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 22. He said construction is expected to finish in June 2027.
This October, a second crew will come from Newport, the construction company partnered with the town, to reconstruct a roadway between Main Street and Crown Road as part of the greater Boston Road Project. The streets will be pulverized and repaved at the end of October or beginning of November, depending on the progress.
Downs also said that construction hours may be added on Saturdays to speed progress along — and with winter coming up, certain aspects of construction will halt so the road can be paved for plowing.
The Boston road project will then resume in spring of 2027 for final renovations.
The project was initially planned to complete in November of 2026, and has cost the town $15.6 million in reconstruction.
