WESTFORD CENTER — The Westford Police Department recognized last week as National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week, honoring those who work alongside police officers during mental and behavioral health crises.
One of those people is Dr. Susan Lemere, the department’s co-response mental health clinician.
Lemere works with officers on mental health-related calls, helping to de-escalate situations, support people in crisis and connect them with resources that can help.
Also recognized was Coretta McGill, who works with Lemere to provide post-response support through Northwest Middlesex County Community Outreach Initiative Network (COIN), to help ensure people can access the services they need after a crisis.
Additionally, the police department recognized Jenn Beckford, the COIN Collaborative’s jail diversion program manager, for her continued support during these types of calls.
“We are proud to recognize Susan, Coretta, Jenn and all of our co-responder and crisis response partners for their continued commitment to our community,” the police department said in a social meda post on Sept. 16.
