Noëlle Donovan, Select Board
First, I want to offer heartfelt congratulations to our new Town Moderator on a terrific job. Leading a Town Meeting requires preparation, patience, fairness, hopefully a little humor, and the ability to keep the proceedings moving while making sure residents feel heard. This huge task was handled admirably, and Westford is fortunate to have such capable leadership guiding this important civic tradition. Thank you for the direction and the lightness you brought to the meeting.
A lot goes on behind the scenes before, during, and after a Town Meeting. I want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes and on the floor to make the meeting possible. Thank you to our police officers who helped ensure everyone’s safety. Thank you to all the Town Hall staff for putting in the time and effort necessary to prepare and support the proceedings. Thank you WCAT for your continued support in all of our town meetings. Thank you to the volunteers who assisted throughout the evening giving your time to help everything run smoothly. So many people contribute to making Town Meeting happen, thank you!
Of course, thank you as well to the residents who attended, asked questions, listened to differing perspectives, and took the time to vote. Whether we agreed on every issue or not, showing up and participating in the decisions that shape our town is at the heart of local democracy. Your voices matter, Town Meeting is one of the most direct ways we have to make our voices heard and take responsibility for the community we share.
Thank you to our new moderator, our town employees, our police, our volunteers, WCAT, and everyone who contributed to a successful evening. Westford is a better community because of your time, effort, and commitment.
Kindly,
Noëlle Donovan
