Westford Health Director Jeff Stephens spoke with WestfordCAT’s Patty Stocker on May 18 about the whirlwind of new COVID-19 information released over the past two weeks. Stephens explained the new Centers for Disease Control guidelines which address face masks among fully vaccinated people; Governor Charlie Baker lifting COVID-19 restrictions beginning May 29; 12 – 17 year olds now being eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine; some good news on the percentage of people in town who have had at least one vaccine administered.
One good number that I am proud of for Westford alone”, Stephens said. “In our region, we are the most vaccinated community percentage-wise than all the other communities. We are at about 70 percent of people with at least one vaccine in their arm right now.”
Stephens also reminds residents to be patient with people and businesses in town who are still reluctant to remove their masks come May 29. “All I ask everyone in town to do and, really, people all over the Commonwealth,” said Stephens. “Just be smart in what you do and just be respectful of people who still want to take precautions.”
Stephens urges any resident with questions regarding the new guidelines to call the Westford Health Department at 978-692-5509.
