Update on pedestrian safety improvements

The board will hear updates on the design of pedestrian safety improvements on North Main Street.

As only WestfordCAT reported, these improvements aim to address limited sight distance at crosswalks, curb ramps that are not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and high-traffic low visibility crosswalks near the Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Catherine’s Church.

The design phase of the project comes months after voters approved $30,000 in capital funding for the design of the project at Town Meeting in March.

Other business

A public hearing will be held for a request from National Grid to trim and remove approximately 87 trees along Groton Road.

The board is slated to approve several holiday events, including the Westford Fire Department’s annual Santa tour and Christmas tree collection.

The board will also consider whether to authorize the Town Manager to submit a technical assistance grant to the Department of Environmental Protection for up to 80 hours of support to develop pay as you throw solid waste collection.
