WESTFORD — A 30 day public review is now open for the town’s electrical aggregation program, which could lead to increased transparency on how the program operates.
The town’s Power Option Program allows residents to opt-in to use Constellation Energy as their electrical distributor and receive additional renewable energy credits than are offered by National Gird.
The program has three tiers – POP Basic, which offers a slightly lower rate than offered by National Grid by default, as well as POP Standard and POP Gold, which offer higher rates than National Grid but provide for additional renewable energy certificates.
This past July, the Department of Public Utilities issued new guidelines which provides additional authorities for cities and towns to manage their electrical aggregation programs and provides for increased transparency, such as annual reporting on services and supply procurement.
A revised plan would not impact current customers, which are fixed by contract through November 2025.
Residents may submit comments via a contact form or via email through Jan. 13, 2025.
