WESTFORD — The Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library will host its final book sale before operations for the library move off-site during a renovation slated to last approximately two years.

The approximately $32.5 million expansion is planned to expand meeting space, the children’s area and bring the facility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the organization, book sales generate approximately $40,000 in revenue per year for the nonprofit. Funds are used to provide museum passes at discounted rates, supplement the library’s physical and digital collections and update décor in the facility.

In a news release shared with WestfordCAT, the organization said it hopes to continue book sales during the closure.

“We know how much everyone loves the book sales,” Book Sale Chair Emily Classon said, “and we’re working hard to find creative ways to keep this valuable community resource available during the library’s expansion project.”

The sale will include thousands of gently used books, audiobooks, CDs. DVDs and Blu-Ray discs.

The members-only preview sale will be held on Jan. 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. A public on sale will be held on Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a $10 bag sale on Feb. 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Credit card payments, cash and checks will be accepted.

Those wishing to become a Friends member may do so online or at the door. Memberships are $15, but discounted rates of $10 are available for students and seniors or $30 for a family.

The organization is still accepting donations for the sale. Unwanted books, audio books, CDs, DVDs or Blu-Ray discs may be dropped off at the left-hand door inside the library’s rear entrance or in the collection box near the rear entrance if the library is closed.

The sale will be held at the J.V. Fletcher Library at 50 Main St.
