WestfordCAT Welcomes George Kalabokis to the News Team

WESTFORD — George Kalabokis has been named Youth and Community Education Director at WestfordCAT, where he will assist with newspaper layout and develop a range of educational programs for both youth and adults.

In his new role, Kalabokis will create more consistent youth programming. The station has previously offered summer and school vacation programs Kalabokis plans to expand those efforts by introducing regular weekly programming. On the drawing board are enrichment-based classes and a video-focused after-school program. He will also develop a structured curriculum for these programs, with a focus on skills such as lighting, camera operation, and studio production.

In addition to youth programming, Kalabokis plans to introduce adult education opportunities, which may include evening film classes or film-related events.

Kalabokis, a Chelmsford native, attended Innovation Academy for high school. He studied film and video production at Fitchburg State University, where he also worked for the campus newspaper as a photographer and news writer.

Afterwards, Kalabokis worked for several years at Billerica Access Television before joining Tyngsborough Media, where he continues to work.

His interest in film and media production began in high school, during an internship at Lowell Telecommunications, where he produced a weekly news show. That experience led him to pursue the field in college and as a career.

Kalabokis brings teaching experience to the role.  He previously worked as a paraprofessional at an elementary school and as the Educational/Associate Content Producer at Billerica Access Television. He said he is excited to join WestfordCAT and looks forward to expanding youth and adult programming as well as working closely with the station’s media and production team.
