Kristina Greene, Chair of the Westford Finance Committee

To the Editor,
I’m writing to express my support for Elizabeth Sawyer for the one-year seat on the Select Board. I have had the privilege of knowing Elizabeth for more than ten years, and throughout that time I have consistently been impressed by her thoughtful, measured approach and her genuine care for our community.
Elizabeth takes the time to listen, ask meaningful questions, and understand issues from multiple perspectives before forming an opinion. She is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and do the work needed to fully understand complex challenges, and she approaches decisions with both curiosity and integrity.
Elizabeth brings a fresh perspective and a willingness to look at challenges with new eyes—questioning assumptions and not simply accepting “we’ve always done it this way.” At the same time, she respects the experience and knowledge of those already serving and will work collaboratively to make thoughtful, well-informed, data-driven decisions.
I’ve seen this approach firsthand through her many years of volunteer service with the Recycling Commission. For over two decades, Elizabeth ran the town’s household hazardous waste collection events. When she saw an opportunity to improve the program, she researched how other communities were operating, identified a more efficient model, and helped transition the event from a bi-annual schedule to an annual one—while also saving the town money. That combination of initiative, practicality, and fiscal awareness is exactly what we need—especially as the town works to balance important priorities with the impact on residents’ property tax bills.
Elizabeth’s integrity, diligence, and commitment to doing the work behind every decision will make her an outstanding addition to the Select Board. I am confident she will serve Westford with care, independence, and a clear focus on what is best for our community.
