WESTFORD — The Westford Historical Society will host its fifth annual Patriots’ Day Candlelight Stroll on April 19 at the Old Division of Fairview Cemetery.

The event, as part of the town’s Westford Rev 250 commemorative program, self-guided event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, located at Main Street and Tadmuck Road. Attendees are invited to explore the historic cemetery at sunset while learning about Westford residents who served in the American Revolutionary War. Participants can access service records and historical information about the town’s patriots using their smartphones or tablets.

The event honors the contributions of Westford’s minutemen, who trained on Westford Common in the days leading up to April 19, 1775, as tensions escalated between American colonists and the British government. Organizers said the program highlights the sacrifices of local veterans whose gravesites remain in the cemetery.

The candlelight stroll is part of a broader series marking the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. The Westford Museum’s Westford Rev 250 program is supported by Rockland Trust.

A rain date is scheduled for April 20 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Westford Historical Society’s mission is to promote understanding and appreciation of the town’s history through educational programming and preservation efforts. The organization collects, preserves and exhibits historically significant documents, photographs and artifacts while supporting community engagement with Westford’s past.
